a soup recipe...

Right now our second bedroom, which is supposed to be our studio, is mostly functioning as a supply closet. I had big plans on my day off to seriously get to organizing this room.  So we can maybe, actually start working it in it? But I woke up feeling under the weather, it's either a cold or pretty bad allergies. I'm leaning towards the cold. So I spent most of the day yesterday watching episodes of Anthony Bourdain and knitting. Not a total lost cause I suppose. Then I made this soup because what else is going to kill a cold besides a ton of garlic.

Basically I followed the recipe from Joy the Baker but altered a few ingredients based on personal preference.

lately....

we've been working on our container garden.

  tomatoes.
i plant marigolds with my tomatoes because that's what my mom does and she's a pretty smart lady. i think it's supposed to keep bugs away? either way it looks pretty.
sweet and hot peppers. these are the only seedlings that i started myself that did very well. so we're going to have a lot of peppers.
flowers and some moss. my terrarium keeps fogging up. i need to fix that.

we also have some lettuce, spinach, and herbs. it's a pretty good start. i hope to add to it gradually.

also i'm working on invitations for my sister, elizabeth's baby shower.

and chris has been working on a poster for white wives. which i can't show you because it's a secret.

so we've been keeping busy.

hey guess what....

...i'm really bad at blogging. it's harder than i thought it would be, or maybe i have less to say now that we're not constantly working on things for handmade arcade. i guess i've taken a mini break to get our porch garden started and spring clean the apartment. BUT we have been tossing around some new ideas
and we're slowly adding items to our etsy shop. so some things are happening.

also, i flew kites with some pretty cool members of my family on easter and even though it wasn't a very nice day, it was really fun!

handmade arcade

handmade arcade was a success. it was a lot of work leading up to it and a long day on saturday but it was totally worth it.  the day went smoothly and we learned some useful tips for next time. we're already looking for another event in the next month or two.

thanks to all our friends who came out to see us. it was really nice to see some familiar faces in the crowd and we appreciate your support always.

thanks to esti and chris' mom, marcy for snapping some photos.

this week we're taking a quick break to do a little spring cleaning in our apartment, double check our inventory and photograph everything. we hope to have our first items listed on etsy by sunday or monday!

one month to go...

there's a little less than a month to go until Handmade Arcade, it's exciting but also slightly stressful. we still have a lot of work to do, and it's especially hard to stay inside and print or sew when the weather is so nice!

here's a few things we've been working on since the last update...

a new design for t-shirts and tote bags:

and

wine and whiskey totes!

wine and whiskey are what we usually drink and give as gifts, but these bags can hold your choice of standard size wine or liquor bottle. more styles and colors are in the works! i'm pretty excited about these because i think they'll make great gifts.
